A version of this painting appeared on the cover of the Santa Fe Railroad calendar circa 1906.

The painting appears to be in very good condition for its age. There is a minor 1/2 inch line of gold leaf transfer at the lower center frame edge, a line of paint loss along the lower left at frame edge, stretcher bar marks, scattered craquelure throughout - the paint layer stable. The painting has been examined under blacklight and does not show any indication of inpainting. The frame appears to be in very good condition with a tiny nick at lower left, one outside left side, some minor flaking underneath and flaking and abrasion at the corners (not visible when hanging).
