Overall this painting is in excellent condition. The surface of the canvas shows minor grime build-up as well as a small area of staining on the right side; the canvas is otherwise bright and clear. Under UV small spots of scattered inpainting are evident in the white mid-section of the sky and in the moose’s legs. The gilt frame shows signs of wear and tear and minor splitting in the corners, but is stable and otherwise in excellent condition. Signed lower right: C. Rungius. Lower left: copyright 1907.
